2-12 THE SIMPLE PRESENT: ASKING INFORMATION QUESTIONS   

        WITH WHEN AND WHAT TIME

 

     Q-WORD* + DO/DOES + SUBJECT + MAIN VERB                       SHORT ANSWER

(a) When             do                  you                go        to class?                      At nine o’clock.

(b) What time     do                  you                go        to class?                      At nine o’clock.

(c) When             does               Anna             eat       dinner?                        At 6 PM.

(d) What time     does               Anna             eat       dinner?                        At 6 PM.

(e)** What time do you usually go to class?

 

*   A “Q-word” is a “question word”. Where, when, what, what time, who, and why are

     examples of question words.

** The frequency adverb usually comes immediately after the subject in a question.

Exercise:

Make questions.

B: At 7:30. (I eat breakfast at 7:30 in the morning).

B: At 7:00. (Alex usually eat breakfast at 7:00).
